Adding A New Branch to Vital Signs

It is possible to add a new branch to Vital Signs by modifying a few configuration files. These files should all be stored in the \vitalsigns\cu\data\config directory on the Vital Signs server.

1. Edit the vs_branch_info.xls file.

All of the Vital Signs documents use the values stored in the vs_branch_info.xls file to get branch names and default sort orders.

2. Create new brinfoCCYYMMDD xls file.

The brinfo files are used by the Transaction documents to filter transactions from undesired branches. The new branch must be defined in the files to appear in the final output. Make a copy of the current brinfo file (the one with the most recent date, ie brinfo20150601.xls) and give it the date the new branch became active, ie brinfo20160115.xls.

Edit the newly created file and add a section for the branch you wish to add. See the brinfoCCYYMMDD.xls page for details on the layout.

Note: If your site does not have the Branch Accounting package, there is an additional step required. In order to assign transactions to specific branches, the BranchReassign.xls file (located in the cu\data\config directory) is used to map drawer numbers to branches. Edit this file to point all drawers used at the new branch to its correct branch number.

Once all the changes have been made, the next Vital Signs refresh will include the new branch.
