What is Vital Signs?
Vital Signs is a robust Business Discovery solution comprising a suite of documents. Each document provides analysts and senior management with unique insight into the heath of their Credit Union. Developed by Vital Soft, Inc., Vital Signs includes an automated framework which performs daily extracts from the Credit Union’s core database(1). This data is stored on a Windows server where Vital Signs has been installed along with custom extracts(2) from other third party systems. Vital Signs also includes multiple QlikView licenses(3) and an optional document distribution module which is capable of producing sophisticated Excel extracts as well as PDF reports. These documents can be emailed or stored on an intranet server.
Vital Signs documents are individual QlikView files that are automatically refreshed on a regular schedule; some applications are refreshed daily, while others are updated on a weekly or monthly basis. The overall schedule is managed by IT and integrated into the credit union’s nightly batch schedule.
Each application functions as an independent “mini” data warehouse(4). There are no queries to write and no tables to join – just information to explore with discoveries waiting around the corner. Extracted data is stored with an “as of date” making it possible to “roll back” time. The Membership Summary application allows users to view monthly, weekly and daily trends in member, share and loan growth.

- Custom extracts are not included in the base package. Data integration from 3rd party systems is billed separately.
- Starter bundle includes the QlikView Small Business Edition Server and 5 named licenses. Additional licenses may be ordered.
- Vital Signs is not a data warehouse in the traditional sense. Data is stored in proprietary, highly compressed, files which can only be read by QlikView applications.
